Lucyna Perkowski

May 28, 1933 — April 21, 2021

Mrs. Lucyna (Kalinowski) Perkowski, 87, passed away on April 21, 2021 at The Bristol Hospital. She was the widow of Edward Perkowski, Sr.

She was born on May 28, 1933 in the small hamlet of Perki-Wypychy, in northeastern Poland, the daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Perkowski) Kalinowski. Lucyna emigrated to the United States of America in 1964. Lucyna loved gardening, cooking and playing cards. She also loved baseball and watching her favorite team the Boston Red Sox. She dedicated her life to raising her family after the sudden loss of her husband Edward, Sr. in 1965. She remained in the United States to raise her two sons after only being in the country for one year. It was her strong faith and a close knit community of her husband’s friends which allowed her and her family to remain in the country she loved dearly.

The family would like to thank all the families and friends which helped her as a young mother of two infants to raise her family and remain in the United States, with special thanks to her best friend Stella Lupa and her family. It is certain that she and Stella are cooking up a wealth of Polish delicacies in heaven, and arguing about who’s dessert came out better - her cheesecake or Stella’s blueberry cobbler? Much like they did many Sunday afternoons after church.

Lucyna worked at Bussmann Manufacturing Company for several years and retired from Stop & Shop in Forestville.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church’s Golden Agers, and the Rosary Club of the Church.

She leaves behind her sons, Edward Jr. and his wife Donna M. Perkowski and Richard W. Perkowski, all of Bristol. Two sister, Krystyna Perkowski and Teresa Perkowski of Poland. Three Grandchildren whom she adored, Rhiannon L. Aubrey and her husband Garrick with their future child, her soon to be born great granddaughter of Wallingford, CT, Edward J. Perkowski and Madison N. Perkowski both of Bristol, CT. Along with many nieces and nephews.

She is pre-deceased by two brothers, Jozef and Stanislaus and two sisters, Irena and Janina all of Poland.

Friends may call at Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St. Bristol on Monday from 8:30 to 10:00 Am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Church on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol, CT.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Stanislaus Church 510 West St. Bristol, CT 06010.
