Stella P. Dobreski, 89, died on Dec. 1, 2006 in Santa Barbara, CA. Originally from Bristol, CT, she moved to Carpinteria, CA in 1997 to spend the remainder of her life with her family.
She was born in New Haven, CT on April 7, 1917 to Pauline and Stanley Pomonowski. She is survived by her son, Arthur Dobreski and daughter-in-law Carole of Menifee, CA, her grandchildren, Michael (Suzy) Dobreski of Pine Mountain Club, CA, Kathleen (Randy) Sharp of Murrieta, CA and Maureen (Jeff) Learned of La Crescenta, CA. She also leaves great-grandchildren David Dobreski, Andrew, Nathan and Michael Sharp, and Shanna and Lacey Learned, a brother, Edmund (Marcia) Pomon of Providence, RI, a sister, Jean Johnson of Stamford, CT. and a sister-in-law, Mary Pomon of Westboro, MA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur E. Dobreski, Sr., brothers Peter Pomonowski, Joseph Pomon and her great-grandson, Benjamin Dobreski.
Stella worked for New Departure, Div. of General Motors in Bristol, CT for 35 years and retired in 1973. She was a long time member of St. Stanislaus Church and the Polish Junior League.
Stella was a happy and caring woman who loved her family dearly and loved the Lord.
The Samarkand was Stella's home for the last 5 ½ years. The nurses, aides and staff gave her love and tender care. Her years there were filled with fun activities, joy and peace. We are so very thankful for the extraordinary loving care that Stella received.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Church in Bristol, CT on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemtery, Bristol. Dunn Funeral Home 191 West St. Bristol is in charge of arrangements.
