Marc Joseph Cohen

Marc Joseph Cohen, 51, of Bristol, CT, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Born and raised in Newark, DE, Marc lived a life full of adventure, generosity, and love for the people around him.

Marc was a natural helper who loved digging into how things worked, and that mindset worked its way into everything he did. He always had a project going, whether it was fixing something around the house, building something new, or lending a hand to a friend in need. He had strong opinions about how things should be done, and he wasn't shy about sharing them.

An adventurer at heart, Marc was an enthusiastic skydiver and skier, always chasing the next thrill. He was quick with a joke and had a gift for self-deprecating humor. He loved telling stories, and his ability to laugh at himself was one of the things people loved most about him.

Marc also had a passion for service – serving for many years as a member of the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department in Watertown, CT.

He built a wonderful circle of friends across every chapter of his life, from the firehouse to college to work to his neighbors, all of whom loved him dearly. He was famously always up for wings.

Marc was a graduate of University of Delaware and had a progressive career in technology, with roles at IBM, Siemon and Terex before spending the last decade at T-Mobile; most recently as a Principal Solutions Architect. For a number of years, he enjoyed serving as an adjunct professor of IT at various local colleges.

Above all, Marc loved his family deeply. Being a husband and father was his world. He was close not only with his own family, but also with Shannon's, embracing them fully as his own. He took great pride in their home, pouring himself into creating a beautiful house, yard, and pool for Shannon and Mia — always planning one more project to make it better for the people he loved most.

He is survived by his wife, Shannon; his daughter, Mia; his twin sister, Rachael; and his mother, Phyllis Cohen. He was predeceased by his father, Lee Cohen.

The funeral service will be held at St Matthew Church in Bristol on Friday, July 24 at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ALS United.
