John P. McCarthy, Jr.

 Mr. John P. “Jack” McCarthy, Jr., 84, of Plainville, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Bristol Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Mascia) McCarthy.

He was born in Bristol on May 13, 1931 the son of the late John P. McCarthy, Sr. and Marie (Ryan) McCarthy. He worked for Pratt & Whitney in Southington for over 45 years retiring in 1991.

He was a veteran in the Korean War serving in the United State Marines.

Jack was a member of the Italian Social Club, American Legion and was a Past Exalted Ruler for the Bristol Lodge of Elks BPOE #1010.

He is survived by 5 brothers, Gary and his wife Nancy McCarthy, Richard and his wife Jane, David and his wife Maryanne, Kevin and his wife Joanne and Brian and his wife Sally. 2 sisters, Joyce and her husband Tom Maghini and Kathleen McCarthy, a sister in-law Angela Mascia and a brother in-law Frank Mascia. Plus several Nieces and Nephews.

He is pre-deceased by 2 sisters, Maureen Carter and Geraldine Olsen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Church. Friends may call at Dunn Funeral Home 191 West St. Bristol on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
