Jean M. Hurlbut, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 5, 2016. She was born in Torrington, CT on September 19, 1924 to the late Victor and Carrie (Porter) Meyer. When she was just 14 she started working at Flieg & Newbury in Torrington where she had been employed most of her life. Jean was an amazing, illustrator, artist, designer, organist, creator and photographer.
She is survived by her 6 children: Laurie Bonesio, Tim Hurlbut, Chris Hurlbut, Robin and Suzann Hurlbut, Peter Hurlbut, Kara and Kevin Campbell, six grandchildren: Kristin and Shawn Walker, Elizabeth and Ethan Thompson, Rachel and Josh Incillo, Justin Hurlbut, Allison Campbell, Kyle Campbell, 6 great grandchildren: Justin Walker, Cheyenne Walker; Percy Thompson, Laurence Thompson, Oliver Incillo, Channing Incillo, her sister Vima LeJeune, sister-in-law Fayne Meyer, brother-in-law Phillip and wife Marion Hurlbut, close family friends Jeff Novak, Darlene Macri, Jennifer McBriarty, many special nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was also predeceased by her husband of 67 years Lawrence P. Hurlbut, her brother William F. Meyer and daughter-in-law Marcia Peters.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 starting at 9:30 with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Winchester Center Congregational Church.
