Dorothy (Woodard) Gomes
Dorothy (Woodard) Gomes, 86, of 45 El Toro Drive, Bristol, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at Bristol Hospital, she was the widow of Anthony P. Gomes. She was born in Bristol on June 4, 1924, the daughter of the late Archie and Susan (Lefebvre) Woodard. Thought her nursing career in private practice she met her late husband in Hawaii. After years lived in Hawaii they moved back to Bristol and she retired in early 1990s. She was a member of St. Anthony Church.
She is survived by a brother, Archie Woodard of Burlington; six sisters, Shirley Goulet of Bristol, Madelyn Politis of West Hartford, Theresa Chapulis of Bristol, Susan Bidodeau of Colchester, Charlotte Zapor of Bristol and Beverly Strong of Bristol; a goddaughter, Jan Chapulis; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Private 1st Class Frederick Woodard, and a sister, Louise Goulet.
A private Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony Church and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. There are no calling hours. Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol, is in charge of the arrangements. www.dunnfh.com
