Donato "Danny" Palance, 79, of 35 Ingraham Place, Bristol, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the widower of Rhea E. (Morin) Palance. Danny was born in Bristol March 26, 1929, the son of the late Frank and Rosina (Perone) Palance. He lived in Bristol his whole life and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked at Wallace Barnes for 35 years before he retired more than 20 years ago. He was a member of St. Anthony Church and a former member of the Red Men's Club. He is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie Grubbs of Pittsburg, Kan.; three brothers, Jimmy Palance of Bristol, Tony Palance of Terryville and Matt Palance of Henderson, Nev.; a sister, Sister Mary Palance, MPF, of Bloomfield; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Philip and Michael Palance, and five sisters, Louise Chapman, Lucy Pietlock Sr., Grace Palance, Josephine Kowalec and Theresa Dion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 27, 2009, at 9 a.m. from Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol, to St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
