David Joseph Carello, Sr.

David J. Carello, Sr., passed into Gods loving arms on April 7, 2016. He was the husband of the late Mary R. (Malena) Carello.

Dave was born in Bristol on July 16th 1924 the son of the late Giuseppe and Adeline (Monico) Carello. In his very early life Dave and his family had a dairy farm in Great Barrington, MA of which he fondly remembered. After moving back to Bristol, Dave was raised in Bristol and became a laborer and craftsman in the family Plastering trade. In 1950 Dave was drafted into United States Army for the Korean War service. Dave served with the GHQ Far East Command 8226 Long Liners arriving in Pusan, Korea on Thanksgiving day 1950. Upon his safe return Dave continued the family Masonry and Plastering trade. They went on to become an employee of the Uniroyal plant in Naugatuck where he retired. Not ever wanted to stop working, Dave went on to become security guard at ESPN and later at Bristol Hospital. Dave was a voracious reader of any and all subjects as many can confirm, he wrote wonderful children's stories that were the first stories told to his children and he was interested in anything to do with stars and planets and space exploration.

Dave loved and dearly missed all of his brothers and sisters who predeceased him on the Monico and Carello side of the family. Dave is survived his brother, Richard E Carello of California his children, David J. Carello, Jr. and a special daughter-in-law Joanne Carello, Richard M. Carello, Diane and John Vandenheuval, Michael and Nancy Carello, Andrew and Pam Carello as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the fine staff of Bristol Hospital and Ingram Manor for their sincere and expert care.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the Dunn Funeral Home 191 West St., Bristol, CT. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Bristol. Friends may call to funeral home on Tuesday from 9 to 11 AM.
