Catherine "Lena" (Cassina) Malsheske, 101, of Bristol passed away May 25, 2009, at Bristol Hospital. She was the widow of Edward Malsheske. She was born Nov. 17, 1907, in Bristol, the daughter of the late Carlo and Adela (Ferrari) Cassina. Lena devoted her life to family, faith and friends. She was a gentle woman who touched many lives. She was a member of St. Anthony Church. She is survived by two daughters and a son in-law, Amelia and Joseph Frechette of Bristol, Margaret Hinckley of Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren, Cathy Sileo and her husband, Michael, of Plainville, Christopher Frechette and his wife, Colleen, of Bristol, David Frechette and his wife, Carol, of Plainville, Sharon Heller and her husband, William, of Somers, George Hinckley and his wife, Shannon, of Lakeland, Fla., Amy Reis and her husband, Jacob, of Spring Hill, Fla; and 14 great-grandchildren, Katie, Gregory and Kellie Sileo, Joseph and Benjamin Frechette, Elijah and Sydney Frechette, Rebecca and William Heller, George, Andrew and Cameron Hinckley, Ashley Hinckley and Samantha Reis. Plus several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Pasquale, Antonio, Marino and Frank Cassina. The funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., to St. Anthony Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Special thanks to the nursing and hospice staff at Bristol Hospital (F-South).
