Bernadette Scalia

Mrs. Bernadette Lillian (Peltier) Scalia, widow of John “Jake” Scalia, peacefully turned her life over to her Lord on Tuesday, March 1st, 2016.

Bernadette (Lil) was born in Unionville on August 1, 1925 the daughter of the late Dennis and Margaret (Roach) Peltier. She attended schools in Unionville and Farmington.

After she marriage in September of 1948, they made their home in Bristol. She worked at New Departure for 20 years. Jake predeceased her in 2007 after 58 years of marriage.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Douglas Reppert of Ohio, two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Nancy (Orr) Scalia and Michael and Karen (Sweeney) Scalia, all of Bristol. Beloved grandchildren include Karla (Reppert) and Ben Hoppe of Ohio, Jeffrey Scalia of Phoenix, AZ, Kimberly(Scalia) and Dr. Matthew Ruppel of Albany, NY, Kathryn Scalia of Bristol, Emily Scalia of New York and Michael Scalia of Bristol. She also leaves great grandchildren, Owen and Maya Hoppe of Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Her survivors also include her brother, Edward Peltier of Unionville, and sisters-in-law Mary Scalia and Ann Scalia of

Bristol and brother-in-law Dominic Scalia of Wethersfield. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Thomas Peltier, Robert Peltier, Max Peltier, Gertrude Buteau and Florence Trelli.

The funeral will be held on Monday, March 7th at 8:30 am from Dunn Funeral Home 191 West St., Bristol to St. Anthony Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony Church, 111 School St. Bristol, CT 06010.
